The Municipal Council shall consist of five members who shall
serve for a term of four years. Said Council members shall be elected
by the voters of the municipality at the general election held on
the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November or at such other
time as may be provided by law for holding general elections, in which
case the term of office of the Council members shall begin on January
1 next following their election. Said Council members shall be elected
at large by the voters.
The initial Township Council members elected upon the adoption
of the Charter shall serve for the following terms: Two shall serve
for four years and three shall serve for two years. The length of
the respective term for each member shall be determined by lot at
the organization of the Council immediately following the election.

In accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:45A-1, the Township government
for the Township of Eastampton shall organize at a meeting held during
the first week of January of each year.

The Council shall hold regular meetings as set forth on the
annual schedule of meetings or as determined by the Council by periodic
resolution, beginning at such time as designated in the notice of
meeting. The Council may, by resolution, dispense with one or more
meetings otherwise scheduled. When the time for a regular meeting
falls on a legal holiday, as prescribed by law, such meeting shall
be held at the same hour on the following day.
