At the annual reorganization held during the first week of January,
the members elect of the Township Council shall assemble at the usual
place of meeting of the governing body of the municipality and organize
and elect one of their number as Mayor. The Mayor shall be chosen
by ballot by the majority vote of all members of the Municipal Council.
At the first reorganization meeting, if the members shall be unable,
within five ballots to be taken within two days of said organization
meeting, to elect a Mayor, then the member who in the election for
members of the Municipal Council received the greatest number of votes
shall be the Mayor. If such person declines to accept the office,
then the person receiving the next highest vote shall be the Mayor
and so on, until the office is filled. The Mayor shall serve for a
one-year term and may succeed himself. After the first reorganization
meeting and at any subsequent reorganization meeting, in the event
of a tie vote after five ballots for the office of Mayor, the members
of the Municipal Council present and voting shall draw lots to determine
the Mayor. (See N.J.S.A. 40:69A-86.)

by ballot by the majority vote of all members of the Township Council
and shall have the powers and duties as hereinabove set forth. The
Deputy Mayor shall serve for a one-year term and may succeed himself.
In the event of a tie vote after five ballots for the office of Deputy
Mayor, the members of the Municipal Council present and voting shall
draw lots to determine the Deputy Mayor.
