The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
The Commissioner of Codes Enforcement.
The duly appointed Electrical Inspector of the City of Utica. The Codes Commissioner shall appoint the Electrical Inspector. The Electrical Inspector reports to and is accountable to the Commissioner of Codes Enforcement.
All electrical wiring, systems, devices, equipment and appliances for the distribution or use of electrical energy.
Any installation of electrical conductors; fittings; devices; raceways; fixtures; motors; generators; starters; controllers; control wiring and related equipment, including heating and air conditioning, wiring, controls, motors, and related electrical equipment for heating and air-conditioning units; wiring of fire protection equipment; that part of elevator installations consisting of feeder conductors and raceways to motor and generator disconnect switches and controllers, including wiring to elevator equipment; service, supply equipment and receptacles for trailer connections; and all electrical equipment used for power supply to radio and television transmitting equipment, including any and all equipment as covered by the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, as adopted.
The holder of a valid license, as described herein.
Any repair which is commenced and necessitated by an equipment failure or impairment which occurs at a time frame when the Codes Department is not open for the issuance for permits.
For the purpose of calculating the permit fee, shall include but shall not be limited to each: receptacle, fixture, switch, furnace, water heater, baseboard heater, dryer, service drop, transformer, main disconnecting/overcurrent device, feeder overcurrent device, meter, fire pump/controller, fire alarm initiating device, fire alarm indicating device, fire alarm supervisory device, fire alarm control/aux item, burglar alarm initiating device, motor, and emergency lights/remote heads.
The City of Utica may require the services of a third-party electrical inspector to perform the duties of the Electrical Inspector if the Electrical Inspector is unable to. The third-party electrical inspector shall be a Utica licensed master electrician or other person whose experience, certifications, and trainings has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Electrical Inspector. Such third-party inspector shall certify the results of his inspection to the City of Utica.
