Unless specifically stated, all streets within the Borough of Trafford will have a prescribed speed limit of 25 miles per hour. The speed limit for both directions of traffic along the streets, alleys or parts thereof described in Schedule I (§ 188-49), attached to and made a part of this chapter, is hereby established at the rate of speed indicated in said schedule. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a higher speed than the maximum prescribed for that street or part of a street.
Traffic control signals shall be installed and operated at the intersection of those streets described in Schedule II (§ 188-50), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall make a right turn (or a left turn from a one-way street into another one-way street) when facing a steady red signal at any of the locations described in Schedule III (§ 188-51), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to make a turn of the kind designated (left, right, all) at any of the intersections described in Schedule IV (§ 188-52), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to make a U-turn on any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule V (§ 188-53), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
The streets or parts of streets described in Schedule VI (§ 188-54), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as one-way streets in the direction indicated, and it shall be unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle on any one-way street other than in the direction established for traffic on that street.
No-passing zones are hereby established along those streets or parts of streets described in Schedule VII (§ 188-55), attached to and made a part of this chapter, and it shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to overtake or pass another vehicle or to drive on the left side of the roadway in any no-passing zone described in said schedule.
The streets or parts of streets described in Schedule VIII (§ 188-56), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby established as through streets; and the driver of any vehicle, upon approaching any such street at any intersection thereof (except for such intersections where there are now or shall hereafter be located official traffic signals), shall come to a full stop or yield the right-of-way, as the case may be, before entering any such through street.
The intersections described in Schedule IX (§ 188-57), attached to and made a part of this chapter (in addition to intersections with the through streets established by this chapter), are hereby established as stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected in such a position on the first-named street as to face traffic approaching the second-named street in the direction or directions indicated in said schedule. Every driver of a vehicle approaching any such intersection upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions indicated in each case, shall come to a full stop before entering any such intersection.
The intersections described in Schedule X (§ 188-58), attached to and made a part of this chapter (in addition to intersections with the through streets established by this chapter), are hereby established as yield intersections, and official yield signs shall be erected in such a position upon the first-named street as to face traffic approaching the second-named street in the direction or directions indicated. Every driver of a vehicle approaching any such intersection upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions indicated in each case, shall slow down or stop the vehicle and then yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on the second-named street so closely as to constitute a hazard during the time that the driver is moving across or within such intersection.
It shall be unlawful for any person to drive any vehicle, except a passenger vehicle (but not including any passenger vehicle drawing any trailer or towing any other vehicle or vehicles making local deliveries), upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XI (§ 188-59), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
A.
Commercial vehicles, tractors and trailers. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive any commercial vehicle or other tractor, trailer or tractor-trailer combination, having a gross weight in excess of that respectively prescribed, upon any of the streets or bridges, or portions thereof, described in Schedule XII (§ 188-60A), attached to and made a part of this chapter, except for the purpose of making local deliveries on said streets.
B.
Vehicles in excess of five tons.

Definitions and interpretation. Words and phrases, when used in Subsection B, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (Act of June 17, 1976, P.L. 162, No. 81), as amended,[1] except that, in Subsection B the word "road" or "street" may be used interchangeably with the word "highway" and shall have the same meaning as the word "highway" as defined in the Vehicle Code.

Weight restrictions on certain roadways. Vehicles in excess of five tons' gross vehicular weight shall be prohibited from traveling or traversing on the streets, roads or highways described in Schedule XII (§ 188-60B), attached to and made a part of this chapter, in their entirety within the territorial limits of the Borough of Trafford unless otherwise noted.
(4)
Signage. The Borough shall erect signs at or near the beginning and end of each such street, in both directions, advising those traversing or traveling said roads of the weight restriction herein established.
(5)
Exceptions. The following shall be exempt from the restrictions and penalties set forth in Subsection B:
(a)
Vehicles providing local deliveries.
(b)
Vehicles with less than five wheels.
(c)
School buses.
(d)
Vehicles used for agricultural purposes.
(e)
Vehicles used for emergencies, such as fire trucks, ambulances, and EMS or EMT vehicles.
(f)
Such other vehicles, the owner or operator of which has secured a permit from the governing body or its designee. Anyone seeking a permit under this section shall make a written request to the Borough. Such request shall be promptly considered. Issuance of a permit shall be within the discretion of the Borough.
(6)
Written warning upon violation. Any owner of a vehicle and any person operating a vehicle in violation of this Subsection B shall first receive a written warning from the Borough. Said warning shall be mailed to the driver and owner of the vehicle by regular mail. A copy of the warning shall be maintained by the Borough and shall be sufficient proof of receipt of the warning.
