[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Clayton 9-24-1987 by Ord. No. 87-15. Amendments noted where applicable.]
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
CHECK
A bank check, money order or draft or any other financial instrument used in place of cash.
RETURNED CHECK
Any check returned to the Borough without being paid by the drawee.

A service charge in the amount of $20 is hereby established for any check paid to the Borough of Clayton, or any department or agency thereof, which is returned unpaid.

Said service charge shall be payable immediately upon notification by the Borough that any check was returned unpaid. If not paid immediately, the service charge will be added, where applicable, to the property tax lien or water and sewer tax lien against the property of the issuer of the check which was returned unpaid.
