There is hereby created within the reserve fund for capital
and nonrecurring expenses a special account for the Milford Police
Department Drug Enforcement Program.

The Police Department of the City of Milford, through its Chief
of Police or his authorized agent, is hereby authorized to make application
to the United States Department of Justice to share with other law
enforcement agencies pursuant to the provisions of Title 21 U.S.C.
§ 881 et seq. and 19 U.S.C. § 1616 et seq. in the proceeds
of property forfeitures of such property used or intended to be used
in any manner or part to facilitate the commission of violation of
Title 21 U.S.C. § 841 et seq.

All proceeds received shall be credited to this special account
for the benefit of the Milford Police Department and the use of said
funds by the Milford Police Department shall be in accordance with
the provisions of Title 21 U.S.C. § 881 and regulations
adopted pursuant thereto so that the law enforcement resources of
the Police Department of the City of Milford shall be increased. All
transferred property received by the City of Milford pursuant to this
program, including cash and other proceeds, shall be used for law
enforcement purposes as recommended by the Milford Police Department
and as approved by the director of finance of the City of Milford.

All monies received into this special account shall be deposited
with the City Treasurer and held by the City Treasurer for the purposes
of this fund.

The City Attorney of the City of Milford is hereby authorized
to cooperate with the Police Department in the preparing and filing
of the necessary claim forms with the Justice Department to accomplish
the purposes of this article.
