As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
INNKEEPER
The owner, operator, management or keeper of a lodging establishment.
LODGING ESTABLISHMENT
A hotel, motel, inn, resort, guest house, bed-and-breakfast
establishment, regardless of size, or other building which holds itself
out by any means, including advertising, license, registration with
an innkeepers' group convention listing association, travel publication
or similar association or with a government agency, as being available
to provide overnight lodging or use of facility space, such as space
for food and beverage, service or meeting rooms, for consideration
to persons seeking temporary accommodation. The term includes a place
which advertises to the public at large or a segment of the public
that it will provide beds, sanitary facilities, or other space for
a temporary period to members of the public at large. The term does
not include time-share arrangements.
PERSON
Any individual, corporation, association, partnership, joint
stock company, business trust, syndicate, joint ventureship or other
combination or other group of individuals.
Each innkeeper and lodging establishment shall maintain any
and all registers of guests required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
and shall permit inspection of said register by members of the Township
Police Department or any police officer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
at all times.
In addition to any other information required by the Pennsylvania
Innkeepers' Rights Act, 37 P.S. § 101 et seq., to be
kept in said register, the register shall show the date of arrival,
the room assigned and the make and license number of any motor vehicle
parked at the motel by the registrant and any occupant of the room.
A. In addition to any other information required by the Pennsylvania
Inkeepers' Rights Act to be kept in said register, the register
shall show the following information:
(1) The name of each occupant of each rooming unit;
(2) The principal address of each such occupant;
(3) The date upon which the occupancy of such unit commenced;
(4) The signature of each occupant of such unit;
(5) The identification number from a legal form of identification, such
as a driver's license or passport;
(6) The age of each occupant; and
(7) The make, model and license number of any motor vehicle parked at
the motel by occupants of each unit
B. No person under the age of 18 shall be permitted to rent a unit without
having parents' or legal guardian's permission at the time
the room is rented. The minor shall present, at the time of check-in,
proof of parental consent. The parental consent, if written, must
include the parent's name and telephone number.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision
of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay
a fine of not more than $600 and costs, or in default of payment thereof,
shall be subject to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days.
Every day that a violation of this article continues shall constitute
a separate offense.
