It shall be unlawful for any owner or occupant of any store
or any other building or for a storekeeper or any other person to
place or set down or cause to be placed or set down or permit or allow
or cause to be permitted or allowed to be placed or set down upon
the streets or sidewalks of the Borough of Hawthorne, or any portion
thereof, any goods, wares, merchandise, chattels, boxes, cans, vegetables,
foodstuffs or any material of any kind or character for the purpose
of offering the same for sale unless an application has been submitted
at least 45 days in advance and a permit has been granted by the Municipal
Council allowing the same; provided, however, that such permits shall
be limited to no more than two successive days and for use of the
sidewalk area in front of the store of the applicant within the area
three feet parallel and adjacent to the front line of the buildings
on such street.
