In order to provide for the safety and security of County-owned
facilities and property, and to generally provide for the public health,
safety and welfare, the Board of County Commissioners deems it appropriate
that it, from time to time, designate and appoint certain individuals
as law enforcement officers with police powers as authorized by Article
25, § 3(q), of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
The Board of County Commissioners may from time to time, by
resolution, designate and appoint certain individuals as police officers
with full law enforcement powers, provided that said persons are certified
by the Maryland Police Training Commission in accordance with the
Public Safety Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. Said resolution
shall provide the following:
A. The geographic limitations, if any, of the powers of the officer;
B. Supervisory responsibility for the officer;
C. Compensation for the officer; and
D. Any other provisions relevant to the particular assignment of the
officer.
