The Village of Lake George is committed to join other government
entities and agencies to win the battle against substance abuse. The
Village Board specifically finds that the workplace is not immune
to the influence of substance abuse, and workers' safety, health
and efficiency are affected. To combat the presence of substance abuse
and alcohol abuse in the workplace, the Village Board of Trustees
has adopted this chapter.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
ACCIDENT
Any incident reportable to an insurance carrier, including
workmans' compensation, liability, collision, etc.
WORKPLACE
Includes any location owned, operated or controlled by the
Village of Lake George, whether the employee is on or off duty. Also
at any other locations while on duty where Village business is conducted,
including traveling on Village time to and from such work location.

The above includes members of the Volunteer Fire Department
during a firematic activity or other event at the discretion of the
officer in charge.
In addition to any penalty contained in any other provision
of law, any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this
chapter may be fined, suspended or removed from office, employment,
or the Volunteer Fire Department, as the case may be, in the manner
provided by law.
This chapter shall take effect immediately upon the filing of
this chapter with the Secretary of State of the State of New York.
