[Amended 4-28-1987 by Ord. No. 1987-5; 6-7-2010 by Ord. No. 2010-13; 2-14-2011 by Ord. No. 2011-1]
A.
A snow emergency requiring snow removal operations shall be deemed to exist whenever:
(1)
The Director of Public Works is contacted by Central Communications at the request of the Police Department;
(2)
The Department of Public Works is directed to begin snow removal by the Township Manager;
(3)
The Burlington County Highway Department has begun winter weather operations; and/or
(4)
Two inches of snow has accumulated.
B.
Whenever a snow emergency shall exist, no vehicle shall be parked on any street or highway or portion thereof within the Township. The above parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.
C.
Any unoccupied vehicle parked or standing in violation shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper regulation of traffic, and any police officer may provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner shall pay the reasonable costs of the removal and storage which may result from such removal before regaining possession of the vehicle.
A.
In addition to the snow emergency provisions set forth in § 510-27, there shall be no parking upon streets or sections of streets where temporary emergency no-parking signs are displayed upon the declaration of an emergency. The Chief of Police or, in his absence, the ranking police officer is authorized to declare an emergency and to direct the posting of said emergency no-parking signs when weather conditions, accidents, fires or public celebrations dictate or require the avoidance of hazards or other conditions which interfere with the free flow of traffic.
B.
Notification that the emergency no-parking signs are being or will be posted shall be given to the operator or owner of any vehicle which has been parked prior to the posting of the signs.
C.
Any unoccupied vehicle parked or standing in violation of this article shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper regulation of traffic, and any peace officer may provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner shall pay the reasonable costs of the removal and storage that may result from such removal before regaining possession of the vehicle.
D.
The effectiveness of this article is contingent on signs being erected as required by law.
Any person violation or failing to comply with any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article II, Penalties for Violations.
