Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L.
1983, c. 383), the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced
in the Township of Eastampton.

The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau of Fire Prevention,
which shall consist of the Fire Official and his staff.

The local enforcing agency shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety
Act and the codes and regulations adopted thereunder in all buildings,
structures, and premises within the boundaries of the Township, other
than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings. Enforcement of
requirements for new construction shall remain with the Township Department
of Code Enforcement.
The local enforcing agency established in §
268-2 shall conduct the periodic inspections of life-hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The local enforcing agency established under §
268-2 of this chapter shall be part of the Eastampton Fire District and shall be under the supervision of the Fire Official, who shall report to the Board of Fire Commissioners of Eastampton Township Fire District No. 1 or such officer as the Board of Fire Commissioners may designate.

A. The local enforcing agency shall be under the direct supervision
of the Fire Official, who shall be appointed by the Board of Fire
Commissioners of Eastampton Fire District No. 1. The Fire Official
shall be responsible for enforcing not only the Uniform Fire Code
but also the Municipal Fire Safety Code, except with respect to new
construction.
B. Term of office. The Fire Official shall serve for a term of three
years or until his successor is appointed. Any vacancy shall be filled
for the unexpired term.

C. Inspectors and employees. The Board of Fire Commissioners shall appoint
such inspectors and employees as may be necessary to carry out all
required inspection activity in the Fire District. Such inspectors
shall be under the supervision and control of the Fire Official.
D. Removal from office. The Fire Official, inspectors and employees
of the enforcing agency shall be subject to removal by the Board of
Fire Commissioners for inefficiency or misconduct. Each employee so
removed shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard by the appointing
authority or a designated hearing officer.
Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act, any person aggrieved by any order of the local enforcement
agency shall have the right to appeal to the Burlington County Construction
Board of Appeals.

In addition to the inspection and permit fees required pursuant to the Act and the regulations of the Department of Community Affairs, additional inspections and fees shall be required. All fees are set forth in Chapter
250 of this Code and, subject to applicable law, shall be paid to the Eastampton Fire District Bureau of Fire Prevention.

A. All newly constructed structures, except for single-family dwellings
and multiple-family dwellings, shall be equipped with a key lock box
at or near the main entrance, structures protected with an automatic
fire suppression system shall also have a locking type of cap on the
Fire Department connection or such other location required by the
Fire Official or the Fire Chief.
B. All structures subject to this section shall have the key lock box
and locking Fire Department connection caps installed and operational
prior to the issuance of an occupancy permit. The Fire Official or
Fire Chief shall approve the type of key lock box system to be implemented
within the Township of Eastampton.
C. The owner or operator of a structure required to have a key lock
box shall, at all times, keep a key in the lock box that will allow
for access to the structure.
D. The Fire Official or Fire Chief shall be authorized to implement
rules and regulations for the use of the lock box system.
E. Any person who owns or operates a structure subject to this section shall be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter
268 of this code for any violation of this section.
