Every owner, occupant, and/or tenant of any property which abuts
a sidewalk or public walkway in the Township of Nether Providence
shall remove or cause to be removed any and all ice on the sidewalk
or walkway or make the sidewalk or walkway safe for travel by pedestrians,
through the application of a salt, sand, ashes or similar material
or a similar antiskid material approved by the Code Enforcement Officer.
If an owner, occupant and/or tenant fails to comply with this article, the Township of Nether Providence may elect to clear the snow and/or ice. The owner, occupant and/or tenant shall be responsible for any and all costs, plus any interest associated with the removal through the placement of a municipal lien or civil action instituted by the Borough. These costs are exclusive of any and all fines and/or penalties provided in §
221-15 of this article.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any provisions of this chapter shall, upon summary conviction before any District Justice, be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, General Provisions, Art.
II, Violations and Penalties, §
1-16, Building, health and safety violations. Each and every day in which any person, firm or corporation shall be in violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate offense.
