In their interpretation and application, the provisions of this
chapter shall be held to be minimum requirements adopted for the promotion
of the public health, morals, safety and general welfare.
This chapter shall not interfere with, abrogate, annul or repeal
any section or any rule, regulation or permit previously or hereafter
enacted, adopted or issued pursuant to law, provided that, unless
specifically excepted, where this chapter imposes greater restrictions,
its provisions shall control.
A violation of this chapter is hereby declared to be an offense
punishable by a fine not exceeding $250 or imprisonment for a period
not to exceed six months, or both. However, for the purpose of conferring
jurisdiction upon courts and judicial officers generally, violations
of this chapter shall be deemed misdemeanors, and, for such purpose
only, all provisions of law relating to misdemeanors shall apply to
such violations. Each week's continued violation shall constitute
a separate violation. Each day's continued violation shall constitute
a separate violation.
