There is hereby established an Open Space and Recreation Committee consisting of seven persons including a member of the Select Board or its designee, a member of the Planning Board or its designee, a member of the Conservation Commission or its designee, a member of the Park and Recreation Commission or its designee, an engineer and two members at large appointed by the Board of Selectmen.

A member shall serve for a term of three years or until a successor is duly appointed. All members shall serve without compensation.
The Committee shall annually elect from among its members a chairman, a vice-chairman and a Clerk, and such other officers as the committee shall deem necessary and proper.
The Committee shall:
A. 
Maintain continuous review and oversight of the Open Space and Recreation Plan for the Town of Dedham, keeping it current with both changing circumstances within Dedham and State requirements for open space or recreation plans and for opportunities as well as eligibility for State funding for land acquisition by the Town;

B. 
Continuously review, revise, and update the existing Five-Year Action Plan for open space preservation and recreational needs in Dedham;
C. 
Seek to increase public awareness and support of open or recreational space in Dedham through education, advocacy for improved recreational and open space areas, and promotion of the use of land trusts and conservation or agricultural restrictions for suitable properties within Dedham; and
D. 
Submit an annual report to the Board of Selectmen.
