Pursuant to C.G.S. § 7-148(c)(5)(D), a City Historian shall be appointed to promote a knowledge, appreciation and dissemination of City of Milford history.
(a) 
The City Historian shall be a legal resident and elector of the City.
(b) 
The City Historian shall be qualified by a knowledge of City history, as well as general state and American history, by a knowledge of historical research and by good writing and speaking skills.
The City Historian shall be appointed by the Mayor, with Board of Aldermen approval, for a term of five years, except that the term for the initially appointed City Historian under this division shall expire on December 31, 2016. Any vacancy in the position of City Historian shall be filled by the Mayor, with Board of Aldermen approval, for the unexpired portion of the term vacated.
The City Historian shall serve without compensation and shall advise the City government on historical issues and subjects, including, but not limited to, historical objects, structures, sites, districts, preservation and National Register properties and such other duties as may be conferred by law and at the direction of the Mayor within the amounts appropriated for such purpose.
