Pursuant to the provisions of the Connecticut General Statutes,
§ 7-148(c)(7)(H)(xi), (xiii), as amended, there shall be
an advisory commission to study the needs of, and coordinate programs
for, the senior citizens of the Town, consisting of the First Selectman
(ex officio), the municipal agent for elderly persons (ex officio),
five regular members and two alternate members to be appointed by
the Board of Selectmen.
The Commission shall be known as the "Bethlehem Seniors Commission"
and shall study the conditions and needs of senior citizens in the
community in relation to housing, economic, employment, health, recreational
and other matters. It shall review the services provided by the community
and shall make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen, the municipal
agent and the Town.
The members of the Commission so appointed shall serve without
compensation but may be reimbursed for their necessary expenses. The
Town may make appropriations to cover the expenses of the Commission.
The initial members and alternate members of the Commission
shall be appointed for staggered terms for one, two or three years,
as determined by the Board of Selectmen, and thereafter, the members
and the alternate members of the Commission shall serve for terms
of three years until their successors are appointed and duly qualified.
