There is hereby established the Sound View Commission for the purposes of preserving, promoting and assisting in the further development and use of the resources of the Sound View area, which area is more particularly described in Schedule A of this article.[1]

The Sound View Commission shall have the following responsibilities:
A. 
Serve as the designated advisor to the Board of Selectmen regarding the Sound View area and as coordinator for said area's management and development.
B. 
Act as a liaison between the Sound View area property owners and Town departments and agencies.
C. 
Assist with the implementation of a long-range plan for the preservation and development of the Sound View area.
Said Commission shall consist of five regular members who shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The terms of the initial members shall be as follows: one member for a one-year term, two members for a two-year term and two members for a three-year term. Thereafter, regular members shall be appointed for a three-year term, ending on the second Monday in January, or until a successor shall have been appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Said Commission shall also have three alternate members appointed by the Board of Selectmen each January to serve for one year.
The Commission shall include three regular members who are property owners or electors who reside within the Sound View area described in Schedule A[1] and two electors from the Town at large. Alternates may be electors from the Town at large.
