An ordinance of the City of Washington adopting the 2009 edition
of the International Residential Code and 2009 edition of the International
Building Code, including but not limited to the regulating and governing
of the construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement,
repair, equipment, location, removal and demolition of detached one-
and two-family dwellings and multiple-family dwellings (townhouses)
not more than three stories in height with separate means of egress
in the City of Washington; providing for the issuance of permits and
collection of fees thereof; repealing Ordinance No. 1740 of the City
of Washington and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
therewith.
This would include the requirements set forth within these two
editions relating to the requirements mandated by said code relating
to permits. Therefore, any owner or authorized agent who intends to
construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy
of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter,
repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical
or plumbing system, the installation of which shall be regulated by
this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make
application to the Building Officials and obtain the required permits.
Work exempt from permits shall be stipulated within said code
under Section R105.2 of the 2009 IRC and Section 105.2 of the 2009
IBC.
Ordinance No. 1740 of the City of Washington, entitled the "City
of Washington Building Code," and all other ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed so that the Code
reflects all parts of the 2009 International Building Code and the
2009 International Residential Code.
That nothing in this article or in the Residential or Building
Codes hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding
impending in any court or any rights acquired or liability incurred
or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing under any act
or ordinance hereby repealed as cited within this amendment, nor shall
any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired
or affected by this article.
