Pursuant to the authority granted by Chapter 126 of the General
Statutes, there is hereby created a planning commission with all the
powers and duties specified by state law.
The Planning and Zoning Commission shall consist of seven members.
The Planning and Zoning Commission shall have all the powers
and duties specified in Chapters 124 and 126 of the General Statutes
and is designated as a planning and zoning commission for the Town.

A. There shall be four alternate members to the Planning and Zoning
Commission.
B. As terms of alternate members expire and as vacancies occur, further
appointments shall be made by the Southington Planning and Zoning
Commission.
C. No more than two of the alternates shall be of the same political
party.
D. If a regular member of such commission is absent or is disqualified
from acting, the Chairman of the Commission shall designate an alternate
to act, taking into consideration the political party of the member
not available, the requirements of the state statutes and Charter
provisions concerning minority representation, attendance of the alternate
members at prior Commission meetings, as well as equality in opportunity
to serve.
