It shall be unlawful to erect, construct or maintain a water cooled air-conditioning system of rated capacity of one-quarter (¼) of a ton or more of any residence, building or structure or the installation and maintenance of any type swimming pools without first having obtained a permit for the erection, construction or maintenance from the Building Official of the City of Olivette.

It shall be unlawful hereafter for the owner, lessee or agent of any building or premises within the City of Olivette to permit the distribution of water from any water cooled air-conditioning system or swimming pool into the sanitary sewer system lines of any sewer district system within the City of Olivette.

No permit shall be issued for the connection of any water cooled air-conditioning system or swimming pool by the Building Official where the used water of the air-conditioning system or swimming pool drains into the sanitary sewer system of the public sewers within the City of Olivette, except the condensation lines, provided that if at the time of the passage of this Article there exists within the City of Olivette any water cooled air-conditioning system or swimming pool which drains its water into the sanitary sewer system of the City of Olivette, that the said owner, lessee or agent shall, within thirty (30) days from the passage of this Article, remove such drainage system from the sanitary sewer lines of the City of Olivette. The drainage of any such water emanating from the water cooled air-conditioning system or swimming pool which drains into the sanitary sewer lines shall be a violation of this Article and each day that said illegal drainage continues will constitute a separate violation.

Any person, lessee or agent of any such property who shall, after sixty (60) days from the passage of this Article after receiving notice from the City Manager that the excess water from a water cooled air-conditioning unit or swimming pool is draining into the sanitary sewer lines in violation of this Article, permit the condition to continue in violation of these regulations shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) and not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00). Said person shall have ten (10) days to discontinue the illegal operation after notice from the City Manager before the issuance of a complaint.
