There is hereby established the City of Byrnes Mill Police Department.

A. There
is hereby established the office of Police Chief who shall be appointed
by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Board of Alderpersons,
and may be removed at any time upon the following of due procedure.
1. The Police Chief shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and
shall serve as provided by Statute.
2. The Chief of Police shall be a conservator of the peace and shall
be active and vigilant in enforcing all provisions of the ordinances
of the City in relation to nuisances and offenses and in the preservation
of the public peace and good order within the City and, in the discharge
of his/her duties, shall at all times be subject to the orders of
the Mayor only and shall consider himself/herself liable for duty
at all times within the limits of the City and be prompt to act whenever
it is necessary.
3. The Chief of Police, in all matters pertaining to the duties of his/her
office concerning which there is no specific provisions of this Article
or other City ordinance, shall be governed by the laws of the State
regulating the duties of Law Enforcement Officers, as far as they
may be applicable.
4. In addition to the duties prescribed in this Article, the Chief of
Police shall perform such duties as are prescribed by other ordinances
of the City or by resolution of the Board of Alderpersons, or any
Statutes of the State.

Said police officers shall hold a class A peace officer's license
pursuant to Chapter 590, RSMo.
