A. 
There is hereby established an Economic Development Commission of the City of Battlefield, Missouri.
B. 
The Economic Development Commission shall consist of seven (7) members, including the Chairperson, which is an increase of two (2) members over the number of members provided in the original ordinance, Ord. No. 99-021603. All members shall continue to be appointed for a term of three (3) years, with the initial appointments of the two (2) new members being for staggered terms of one (1) year for one (1) member and two (2) years for the second member.

C. 
A majority of the Commission shall designate one (1) of its number (not the Mayor) as the Chairperson and shall designate such other office positions as it deems appropriate. It shall adopt its own rules of order. To be eligible to serve on the Economic Development Commission, a person must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and must reside in the City of Battlefield or work in the City or have a place of business in the City.
D. 
The Economic Development Commission shall research and collect information regarding opportunities for businesses and investments in the City. The Commission shall prepare proposals explaining opportunities for business and investment in the City and may study and outline the effects of City ordinances on business opportunities. Additionally, the Economic Development Commission shall prepare reports setting out how City regulations relate to energy conservation and environmental protection and may aid and assist the Board of Aldermen and other City Officials in seeking out and applying for governmental grants and low interest rate loans that may be available to benefit the City of Battlefield. The Economic Development Commission shall report to the Board of Aldermen and shall perform such other duties as are deemed necessary by the Mayor and a majority of the Board of Aldermen.
E. 
All members of the Economic Development Commission shall serve without compensation, but they shall be reimbursed for any expenses authorized by the Mayor and a majority of the Board of Aldermen.
F. 
The Economic Development Commission shall have such employees as are from time to time authorized to be employed by the Board of Aldermen.
G. 
The Mayor and a majority of the Board of Aldermen may remove any member from office at any time, with or without cause and without public hearing.
