The Mayor, with the consent and approval
of the majority of the members of the Board of Aldermen, shall have
the power to appoint a City Attorney or Attorneys licensed to practice
law in the State of Missouri. The person or persons appointed as City
Attorney or Attorneys are hereby deemed to be an officer of the City
under Section 79.230, RSMo., as amended.

A. The duties of the City Attorney to the
City shall be to:
1.
Represent the City in all matters
before any State or Federal courts or administrative bodies whatsoever.
2.
Advise the Mayor, City Administrator
and Board of Aldermen on all matters referred by them to such City
Attorney.
3.
Assist the Mayor, City Administrator
and Board of Aldermen in the drafting of bills and resolutions.
4.
Attend regular and special meetings
of the Board of Aldermen or any committee thereof when directed to
do so by the Mayor, City Administrator or Board of Aldermen.
5.
Advise heads of departments when
directed to do so by the Mayor or City Administrator.
6.
Perform such other duties as he/she
may be directed to perform by the Mayor, City Administrator or Board
of Aldermen.
7.
Notwithstanding any other provisions
of this Code to the contrary, act as parliamentarian at all regular
and special meetings of the Board of Aldermen.

The City Attorney to the City shall
serve for an indefinite period of time and may be removed in accordance
with Section 79.240, RSMo.
