There is continued the Joint Appeals Board for the City Building Code, Uniform Construction Code, Property Maintenance Code, Rental Inspection Ordinance, Blighted Property Ordinance and Fire Prevention Code as set forth in the respective ordinances.[1]

The Code Appeals Board shall be comprised of three members who serve three-year terms of office, of whom one shall be a professional engineer (and which may be the City Engineer), and one shall be an individual with experience in building construction and contracting, and one shall be an engineer or an individual with experience in construction, plumbing, electrical and/or fire prevention, appointed by the City Council. The City Council may also designate up to two alternate members of the Board who shall serve in the event of a vacancy, conflict of interest, or in the inability of a regular Board member to attend a hearing. No alternative Board member shall vote on any matter before the Board unless there is a vacancy, a conflict of interest, or a regular Board member's absence.
The Board shall appoint a Chair and shall promulgate written operating policies and shall be administered in accordance with the applicable ordinances of the City. All fees and costs for Board appeals shall be set forth by resolution of the City Council. The Department of Administration and Finance shall provide operational support for this Board.
