In conformance with the power and authority vested in the Town
Council by the provisions of the Charter and the laws of the state
made and provided, a department to be known as the "Department of
Information Technology" is hereby created.
Under the power and authority vested in the Town Council by
the Charter, the office of Director of Information Technology is hereby
established.
The Director of Information Technology shall possess such qualifications
as adopted by the Town Council.
The Director of Information Technology shall be appointed by
the Town Manager with the approval of the Town Council. The Director
of Information Technology shall be responsible to and under the direction
of the Town Manager.
The salary of the Director of Information Technology shall be
as prescribed by the Town Council and shall be in full compensation
for all services rendered by him/her as Director of Information Technology.
The Director of Information Technology shall plan and direct
the Town's Information Technology Department according to general
policy directives and capital budgeting principles and shall administer
the Town's information technology functions in accordance with all
applicable state statutes. The Director of Information Technology
shall maintain regular communication with School District information
technology personnel and use reasonable efforts, when appropriate,
to pursue technology consolidation opportunities between the Town
and the School District.
