The keeping, feeding, or raising of hogs or pigs within the
City limits is declared a nuisance and unlawful, except when the keeping
as a domesticated pet of one (1) pig per household, commonly referred
to as a "Chinese or Vietnamese Potbellied Pig" is permissible under
this Section provided that the keeping of such pig does not constitute
a nuisance as defined elsewhere in the City Code.

It shall be an offense of any person owning, keeping or charged
with the care of any stable, poultry yard, pasture or pet house within
the City, who shall permit the same to become offensive because of
the odor from animal excretions or because the sight of the animal
enclosures herein described is offensive to the aesthetic sensibilities
of the public.

A. It
shall be an offense for any person to keep a cow, bull, mule, ass,
horse, goat or sheep in an outdoor enclosure or pasture, the exterior
boundary of which is within one hundred (100) feet at its nearest
point from a dwelling, place of business of another, church or school.
B. Nor
shall any person keep more than one (1) of any such animal or any
combination thereof in an outdoor enclosure or pasture unless such
enclosure or pasture shall have an area equivalent to one-half (½)
acre for each such animal; except suckling offspring on a cow or mare.
C. Exception For Domesticated Animal. One (1) pigmy goat per
household shall be allowed to be kept without meeting pasture requirements.

A. No
person shall drive, ride, or lead any horse, mule, ox, cow, or similar
beast of burden upon any sidewalk of the City.
B. No
person shall drive, ride, or lead any horse, mule, ox, cow or similar
beast of burden through the parks of the City except by permission,
granted in writing, of the Park Board and filed with the Police Department.
C. No
owner or person having control of any horse, mule, team of horses
or mules, or any similar beast(s) of burden or domesticated animal(s)
riding, driving or leading any of the aforesaid animals shall leave
such animals unhitched and unattended on any of the public streets
of the City.

A. No
wild, dangerous or exotic animals as herein defined may be kept within
the City limits, except under such conditions as shall be fixed by
the Board of Aldermen; provided however, that wild, dangerous or exotic
animals may be kept for exhibition purposes by circuses, zoos and
educational institutions in accordance with such regulations as shall
be established by the Board of Aldermen.
B. For
the purposes of this Section, "wild animal" shall
mean any animal included with Class I Wildlife or Class II Wildlife
as identified in the Wildlife Code of Missouri.
C. For
the purposes of this Section, "exotic animal" shall
mean any lion, tiger, leopard, ocelot, jaguar, cheetah, margay, mountain
lion, Canada lynx, bobcat, jaguarondi, hyena, wolf, bear, non-human
primate, coyote, or any deadly, dangerous or poisonous reptile or
any reptile over eight (8) feet long or other animal with similar
characteristics or reputation.

It shall be an offense for any person to tease, annoy, touch,
strike or otherwise injure any free wild animal or bird found within
the City or within a City Park except to defend against attack by
any such animal or fowl.

It shall be an offense, punishable upon conviction by a fine
of five hundred dollars ($500.00), for any person to purposely cause
dogs, chickens, or any other animal to fight or to knowingly allow
dogs, chickens, or any other animal to fight, when such fighting is
for exhibition or training for exhibition in illegal fights.
