Any dog found in violation of the provisions of Articles II and III may be seized and impounded by any Police or Humane Officer. Impoundment may be in any animal shelter designated by the Board of Aldermen.

The owner of any dog impounded under the provisions of this Article when such owner can by any reasonable means be identified and located, shall within twelve (12) hours be notified that the dog has been impounded.

A. 
The following fees shall be charged for the impoundment of any dog under the provisions of this Chapter:
1. 
First (1st) redemption of dog duly licensed shall be thirteen dollars ($13.00).
2. 
For any subsequent redemption or redemptions within the next twelve (12) months, double the amount of the last redemption fee.
3. 
For any redemption or redemptions of an unlicensed dog, double the amount as calculated for a licensed dog in addition to the redemption provisions of Section 205.320.
B. 
Whenever any dog is impounded there shall be an additional fee of one dollar ($1.00) per dog for each day or fraction thereof for feeding such dog.

A. 
The owner of any impounded dog which has not been vaccinated or licensed under this Article, upon satisfactory proof of ownership, may redeem his/her dog by making a deposit of ten dollars ($10.00) with the Chief of Police and be allowed twenty-four (24) hours to get such dog vaccinated and properly licensed. If such owner fails to procure a certificate of vaccination and City license within the twenty-four (24) hours, the deposit shall be forfeited and turned over to the City Collector to be placed in the general fund and the dog shall be picked up and impounded.
B. 
Upon presentation within twenty-four (24) hours of a license issued under this Article, the deposit shall be refunded.

If the owner of any dog impounded under this Article shall fail to redeem his/her dog within five (5) days after such impoundment, any other person may, upon complying with the provisions of this Article, redeem such dog from the pound and be the lawful owner of such dog thereafter.

All dogs shall be disposed of after five (5) days of impoundment, unless impounded for a longer specified time. The Chief of Police may dispose of such dogs by humane means. Dog carcasses shall be buried.

Upon conviction of any offense under the provisions of Articles II, III and IV of this Chapter the minimum fine for said misdemeanor offense shall be ten dollars ($10.00), plus costs and a maximum of fifty dollars ($50.00) plus costs or by incarceration in the City Jail for not more than thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and confinement.

Any dog, or other animal covered by this entire Chapter, that bites a human being, shall be impounded for a period of ten (10) days, for the purpose of ascertaining the presence of rabies. This impoundment may be volunteered by the owner thereof on the owner's premises or by the City at its impoundment premises, at a charge to owner of said animal of five dollars ($5.00) per day payable in full in advance. The owner shall have the election of the type of impoundment to be enforced, but if said owner elects to make the impoundment on his/her own premises and fails to do same in full, the said owner shall upon conviction thereof be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) plus costs.
