Residents may obtain application forms for handicapped registration plates from the Borough Police Department.
The following procedures shall be followed for residents requesting handicapped parking signs:
A. 
A letter should be written to either the Mayor, President of Council and/or Chief of Police requesting the sign and include information as set forth herein.
B. 
The resident should provide proof that they own a valid handicapped registration plate.
C. 
A doctor's certificate should be attached to the request letter indicating that the person is handicapped.
D. 
The Borough Secretary-Treasurer will ensure that all members of Council, the Mayor and the Chief of Police receive a copy of the request letter.
E. 
The Burgettstown Borough Council shall investigate the request for a handicapped parking sign and make a recommendation to the Chief of Police for disposition of the request.
F. 
The Borough Secretary-Treasurer shall write a letter to the resident reporting Council's official action.
G. 
All costs associated with the request, including but not limited to administrative fees, shall be borne by the resident making the request.
