In order to protect property owners, residents and persons lawfully
and peacefully using the public ways, places and sidewalks in the
village and, further, to prevent vandalism and criminal acts, the
Board of Trustees does hereby enact the following curfew regulations
pursuant to its police power and statutory power to protect and promote
the public health, welfare and safety of the inhabitants of the village.
No person 17 years of age or younger shall be permitted to be
upon any sidewalk or other public way or place within the Village
of Chatham, whether in a vehicle or on foot, during the following
hours unless said person is in the company of his parent or legal
guardian:
A. Monday through Friday: 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m.
B. Saturday and Sunday: 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter
shall be subject to a civil fine in an amount not to exceed $50 for
the first violation and $250 for each additional violation.
