The Mayor with the consent and approval of the Board of Aldermen, shall appoint a City Treasurer, who shall hold office for a term of one (1) year or until his/her successor is appointed and qualified, unless sooner removed by order.

A. 
The duties of the City Treasurer shall be as follows:
1. 
To receive and safely keep money, warrants, books, bonds, obligations and any other property belonging to the City, that may be entrusted to his/her care, and deliver same to his/her successor in office, taking duplicate receipts therefore, one of which he/she shall file with the City Clerk.
2. 
To pay over all money, bonds, and other obligations of the City or warrants or orders duly drawn, passed or ordered by the Board of Aldermen, duly signed by the Mayor, and attested by the City Clerk, and having the Seal of the City affixed thereto, and not otherwise.
3. 
To be fully satisfied that there remains in the Treasury and stands to the credit of the fund on which the check is drawn, sufficient funds to cover the check.
4. 
To be fully informed and satisfied that proper and complete records are being kept of all City funds and accounts.
5. 
Reports shall be made only on demand by the Board of Aldermen, such reports shall be as detailed as this demand may specify.
6. 
Before entering upon the duties and obligations of this office as herein prescribed, he/she shall give bond in such sum as may be required by this Code or other ordinance.
