This Department shall be under the direction of a Planning Director as provided for in § C-6.01 of the Charter. In addition to the duties provided for herein, the Planning Director shall be responsible for the Planning, Building Inspection, and Fire Inspection Operations of the Township. This Department shall maintain all records and perform all functions related to such operations; specifically including, but not limited to, those functions specified below.
The Planning Operation shall study and make recommendations on:
A. 
Modification of the Comprehensive Plan:
B. 
Preparation and modification of maps and zoning ordinances;
C. 
Highway layout;
D. 
Traffic and parking problems; and
E. 
Use, design and layout of Township structures, buildings, land, parks, playgrounds and other Township property.
The Engineering Operation shall be responsible for:
A. 
The design and layout of all municipal works projects.
B. 
Issuance of permits for work involved in construction or excavation of Township passageways.
C. 
Inspection of all work for which permits have been granted under Subsection B.
D. 
Preparation of all records related to the Engineering Operation. Such records shall be the property of the Township and a complete set thereof shall be forwarded to the Business Department for safekeeping.
The Construction Code Enforcement Operation shall perform the following functions:
A. 
Issue:
(1) 
Plumbing licenses.
(2) 
Building, plumbing, housing and occupancy permits.
B. 
Inspect existing housing, new construction, remodeling and land use for conformity with applicable building, plumbing, housing and zoning codes.[1]

C. 
Issue permits for the erection of signs in accord with land use regulations.
The Fire Inspection Operation shall inspect all buildings in compliance with the Construction Code[1] and enforce the provisions thereof.
