The Board of Aldermen shall elect a Clerk for such Board, to
be known as "the City Clerk", whose duties and term of office shall
be fixed by ordinance. Among other things, the City Clerk shall keep
a journal of the proceedings of the Board of Aldermen. He/she shall
safely and properly keep all the records and papers belonging to the
City which may be entrusted to his/her care; he/she shall be the general
accountant of the City; he/she is hereby empowered to administer official
oaths and oaths to persons certifying to demands or claims against
the City.

A. The
Assistant City Clerk shall:
1. Perform such other administrative duties as may be delegated to him/her
by the Mayor;
2. In the absence of the City Clerk, perform and exercise all of the duties and powers enumerated in Section
115.090 entitled City Clerk — Election — Duties.
B. The Mayor shall appoint the Assistant City Clerk as other appointive officers are appointed under to Section
115.010, Appointive Officers.

Before entering on the discharge of his/her duties, the Clerk
shall execute to the City a bond in such sum as shall be prescribed
by the Board of Aldermen, conditioned that he/she will faithfully
discharge the duties of his/her office and account for all money and
other property belonging to the City that shall come into his/her
hands by virtue of his/her office.
