There is hereby established a Commission to be named the "Sharon
Hill Historical Commission."
The Historical Commission shall:
A. Record the history of the Borough.
B. Take inventory of the historic sites within the Borough and recommend
that the Borough Council establish, by ordinance, historic districts
or sites pursuant to Act No. 167 of June 13, 1961. Such recommendation shall be based on, but not limited
to, the age of the site or building within an area in relation to
the period of the Borough's history, lifestyle and architectural
style.
C. Secure necessary information to enable the Borough to apply for state
and/or federal funds, at the direction of the Borough Council, and
incur expenses as provided for by the Borough Council of Sharon Hill.
D. Perform such other duties as may be delegated from time to time by
the Borough Council of Sharon Hill.
The Commission shall have five members, all of whom must reside
in the Borough of Sharon Hill. Each Commission member shall serve
for a term of two years. (The initial appointments shall be three
members to serve a two-year term and two members to serve a one-year
term; thereinafter, all members shall be appointed to serve two-year
terms.) The Borough Council shall fill any vacancy for the duration
of an unexpired term.
The Commission members shall elect, annually, a Chairman, who
will direct the activities of the Commission, and a Secretary.
Regular public meetings shall be held to conduct the business
of the Commission. A report of activities shall be presented to the
Borough Council each month.
