Whenever any words and phrases are used in this chapter, the meanings respectively ascribed to them in Subtitle 1 of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used herein.

A. 
Unless another penalty is expressly provided by New Jersey Statute and as provided in Subsection B, every person convicted of a violation of a provision of this chapter or any supplement thereof shall be liable to a penalty of not more than $500 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or both.
B. 
Local enforcement.
(1) 
Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of this article shall upon conviction thereof be punishable by a fine of not less than $75 nor more than $100; upon a second violation a fine of not less than $125 nor more than $150; and upon third or subsequent violation a fine of not less than $175 nor more the $300; and/or a period of community service not to exceed 10 days. Whenever such person shall have been officially notified of such violation by a summons in a prosecution or in any other official manner, that said person is in violation, each day's continuance of such violation after such notification shall be subject to separate offenses punishable by a like fine or penalty.
(2) 
Article IX, Emergency No Parking, shall be enforced by the Town of Belvidere Police Department who shall be authorized to issue tickets for violation of Article IX. Violations shall be punished by the following fines:
(a) 
First offense: $75.
(b) 
Second offense: $100.
(c) 
Third and each subsequent violation and conviction: $125.
