The terms used in this chapter shall have the following meanings:
BOD (BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND)
The quantity of oxygen utilized in the biochemical oxidation of organic matter under standard laboratory procedure in five days at 20° C., expressed in parts per million by weight.
BUILDING SEWER
The lowest pipe which receives the discharge from soil pipes inside the walls of any building and conveys it to the sewer lateral.
OWNER
Any person owning real property in the Village.
PERSON
Any individual, firm, company, association, society, corporation, group or agent therefor.
pH, HYDROGEN IONS
The logarithm of the reciprocal of the weight of hydrogen ions in grams per liter of solution.
SANITARY SEWER
A pipe which carries sewage and into which other waters are not intentionally admitted.
SEWER LATERAL
The pipe from the building sewer to the public sanitary sewer.
STORM DRAIN
A pipe which is intended to carry storm, surface and ground waters exclusive of sewage and polluted industrial wastes.
SUPERINTENDENT
The person in charge of the sewers of the Village of Hilton or his representative.
SUSPENDED SOLIDS
Solids that either float on the surface of or are in suspension in sewage or waste and which are removable by laboratory filtering.
VILLAGE
The Village of Hilton, Monroe County, New York.
WASTES
The contaminated liquid wastes from industrial or commercial processes.
