The City Code Enforcement Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of a majority of the Board of Aldermen as from time to time shall be necessary, and shall serve for an indefinite term.

A. 
The duties of the City Code Enforcement Officer shall be to:
1. 
Develop a general familiarity with the Building and Zoning Code of the City;
2. 
Inspect improvements and other construction undertaken in the City in order to assure compliance with the Building and Zoning Code of the City as well as with the terms of development, site, construction and area plans approved for development within the City;
3. 
Inspect property located in the City upon the sale thereof to ensure compliance with the Building and Zoning Code of the City in order to accomplish the public health and safety interests of the City and its residents;
4. 
Perform such functions and duties as may be from time to time required by the Mayor or Board of Aldermen; and
5. 
Provide all data and/or information pertaining to the City and its business as requested by the Board of Aldermen or the Mayor.

The salary of the City Code Enforcement Officer shall be as established from time to time by ordinance.

The City Code Enforcement Officer may be removed during his/her term of office only in accordance with Section 79.240, RSMo., dealing with appointed officers.
