This article is enacted pursuant to the authority of § 3-302 of the Village Law of the State of New York.
The terms of office for the Mayor and all Trustees of the Village of Clayton are hereby extended from two years to four years.
Terms of office of the Mayor and all of the Trustees of the Village of Clayton shall hereafter be filled for terms of four years commencing at the beginning of the official year following the next general Village election at which each such office is to be filled.
This article is adopted subject to a permissive referendum, and shall become effective upon filing with the Department of State as required by the Municipal Home Rule Law following the expiration of the permissive referendum period or, in the event a referendum is held, following the approval thereof by the voters of the Village of Clayton.[1]
