[Adopted 11-10-1993 (Ch. 84, Art. I, of the 1998 Code)]
The Code Enforcement Officer of the Village of Livonia is hereby designated as the Village of Livonia Addressing Official.
The duties of the Addressing Official shall be as follows:
A. 
Attend all training seminars in regard to addressing as announced and presented by the Livingston County Planning Department.
B. 
Assign house numbers to newly created parcels and to buildings when building permits are issued. Such assignments shall be in writing on forms provided by the Livingston County Planning Department and shall be delivered to the owner of the premises, the Municipal Assessor and the Livingston County Planning Department.
C. 
During the preparations for the implementation of the Livingston County Enhanced 911 System, review the addressing changes proposed by the Livingston County Sheriff's office and identify the existence of multifamily developments and mobile home parks, private streets and rights-of-way, and existing locally used names for private streets and rights-of-way. Upon request by the Livingston County Sheriff's office, identify all known areas within the Village where existing problems with addressing exist.
D. 
Comply, to the extent practicable, with the addressing policy and municipal street address guide as promulgated by Livingston County.
E. 
Refer all requests for new roads and rights-of-way, whether public or private, to the Livingston County Planning Department on behalf of the E-911 provider for review and approval of the official name prior to preliminary subdivision approval.
All new address assignments made by the Addressing Official shall be, to the extent practicable, in compliance with the addressing policy and master street address guide as provided and modified by Livingston County.
All Village employees and officials shall hereinafter refer all inquiries for address information or requests for address assignments, whether from the general public or for use in official records of the Village, to the Addressing Official.
Copies of this article shall be sent by the Village Clerk to the Municipal Addressing Official, the Town Assessor, the Tax Collector, the Code Enforcement Officer, the Chairpersons of the Joint Zoning Board of Appeals and the Joint Planning Board, the President of the local school board, the Highway Superintendent, the Sewer District Superintendent, the Water District Superintendent and the Livingston County Sheriff's office.
