This chapter shall be known as the "House and Building Number
Law of the Township of Cranford."
The purpose of this chapter is to provide emergency personnel
in the Township, such as police, fire and emergency medical services,
with the most expeditious manner of identification of houses, commercial
properties, commercial buildings and other buildings within the Township
in order to allow them to quickly and accurately respond to the appropriate
address.
The Construction Official, all subcode officials, the Fire Chief
and Police Chief are hereby declared to be responsible for the enforcement
of this chapter.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, or
anyone acting on behalf of said person, firm or corporation, to violate
any of the provisions of this chapter relating to the posting and
continuation of the numbering system of the numbers on said buildings.
Any structure not displaying the numbers as set forth in this chapter
shall be considered in violation of this chapter.
Any person, firm or corporation violating or permitting the
violation of any provision of this chapter shall be subject to a fine
not exceeding $100 and $200 for each subsequent offense. Each day's
continued violation shall constitute a separate additional violation.
