There is hereby created for the Township of Maplewood a committee
known as "Sustainable Maplewood" ("Committee").
A. The Committee shall coordinate the planning and implementation of
municipal, community-based and intergovernmental sustainability projects.
Its work shall include being the coordinating body and point of contact
for the work of the Maplewood Green Team and the Township's Environmental
Advisory Committee and undertaking projects such as:
(1) Improving the energy performance of municipal buildings;
(2) Making the Township vehicle fleet more fuel efficient:
(3) Expanding the use of renewable energy; and
(4) Making Township operations more sustainable.
B. The Committee shall ensure that sustainability principles and practices
are integrated into policy, planning and development decisions of
the Township and its boards and committees.
C. The Committee shall monitor and guide the Township's progress
in meeting agreed-upon sustainability goals and objectives.
D. The Committee shall maintain and comply with Sustainable Jersey Certification
at the highest feasible level.
A. The Committee standing members shall include:
(1) Two members of the Township Committee, one of whom shall serve as
Chair of the Committee.
(4) Public Works Department Director.
(6) Director of Community Development.
(7) Chair or representative of the Township Environmental Advisory Committee,
upon approval annually by the Township Committee.
(8) Chair(s) or representative of the Maplewood Green Team, upon approval
annually by the Township Committee.
(9) Chair or representative of the Maplewood Planning Board, upon approval
annually by the Township Committee.
B. Each member of the Committee shall have one vote.
The Committee shall meet at least once every two months.
