The specific intent of this district is to promote the maintenance,
stability and continued viability of the Borough's low-density residential
neighborhoods, while providing for appropriate infill development.

1. The following uses are permitted on any lot in the R-1 District.
A. Single-family detached dwelling.
B. Accessory uses, in compliance with §
27-903 of this chapter, including home occupations in compliance with §
27-904 of this chapter.

1. All required parking spaces shall be located in the rear or side
yards, with the exception that one parking space may be located in
the front yard of a single-family detached dwelling.
2. Accessory Structures. A garage or other permitted accessory structure not exceeding the size limitations of §
27-903, Subsection 1.D, may be erected only within the side or rear yard, not closer than eight feet from the rear and side lot lines, nor less than 10 feet from the edge of any street or alley.
3. Where a driveway is located in a side yard, a five-foot landscaped
buffer strip shall be provided between the driveway and the adjacent
property line. The buffer strip may be maintained as lawn or planted
with trees and shrubs or similar landscape material.
