Similar to the purpose of the Industrial I District, it is the
purpose of the Limited Industrial LI District regulations to protect
established and intertwined residential areas from certain nearby
industrial activities and to protect the limited amount of suitable
industrial land from preemption by other uses and thereby to protect
and enhance the tax base of the City, provide employment opportunities
for local residents and lessen the need for longer automotive travel
to employment centers distant from the City. The additional purpose
of the Limited Industrial District is to ensure the health and safety
of nearby residents by further limiting industrial uses to those that
are safe and conducive to being located among and in close proximity
to larger residential and commercial districts.
