There shall be established a commission for the study of the needs of and the coordination of programs for the aging. The Commission on Senior Citizens shall be appointed as provided in Chapter
5 of the Charter.
At its annual meeting, which shall be held in September of each
year, the Commission shall elect from among its members a Chairperson,
Vice Chairperson, and a Secretary.
Upon the death, resignation or removal for cause of any member
of the Commission, his successor shall be appointed by the Board of
Selectmen to serve the unexpired portion of the term for which such
member had been appointed.
Said Commission will be empowered to:
A. Study on a continuing basis the conditions and needs of elderly persons
residing in the Town, particularly as those needs relate to housing,
economics, employment, health, welfare and recreation.
B. Analyze said needs in relation to financial and other services available
from other public agencies.
C. Submit from time to time to the Board of Selectmen recommendations
with respect to the development of programs to meet the needs of elderly
persons in the Town and the integration of those programs with services
available from other public agencies.
D. Make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen for appropriations
to cover the expenses of said Commission.

Said Commission shall be known and designated as the "Burlington
Commission on Senior Citizens."
