Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L.
1983, c. 383), N.J.S.A. 52:27D-202, the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code
and any amendments and modifications adopted thereto shall be locally
enforced in the Township of Denville.
The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau of Fire Prevention,
which is hereby created in the Denville Township Fire Department.
The local enforcing agency shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety
Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings,
structures, and premises within the established boundaries of the
Township of Denville, other than owner-occupied one- and two-family
dwellings, and shall faithfully comply with the requirements of the
Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Safety Code.
The local enforcing agency established by §
265-2 hereof shall carry out the periodic inspections of life hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
The local enforcing agency established by §
265-2 hereof shall be part of the Fire Department and shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Board of Engineers. The Board of Engineers shall exercise such supervision and control subject to the general powers, duties, administrative supervision, and appointive and removal powers which are vested in the Director of Public Safety, Business Administrator, and Mayor.
Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act,
any person aggrieved by any order of the local enforcement agency
shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals
of the County of Morris.

In addition to the fees required by the State Bureau of Fire Safety for Life Hazard Uses pursuant to the Act and regulations of the Department of Community Affairs, all other buildings, areas of buildings, structures and premises other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings, are non-life hazard uses and shall be inspected as required by the Act. Fees for such inspections shall be set forth in Chapter
245, Fees, Rates and Charges, §
245-15, of these Revised General Ordinances.
