The chief of the fire department and assistant chief of the
fire department are hereby given all the authority of police officers
of the City so far as necessary in the exercise of their duties and
are hereby authorized to make arrests for interference with firefighters
in the discharge of the duties of their office, or for any interference
with the operations of the fire department.

The fire department is authorized to answer calls for fire protection
service to premises outside the City limits, provided, however, such
service shall not be furnished whenever, in the sole and exclusive
judgment and discretion of the chief of the fire department or any
other person in charge in his stead, to do so would jeopardize the
health and safety of citizens and property within the City limits
or would otherwise not be expedient by reason of the existence of
other circumstances.
