The purpose of this article is to implement the Freedom of Information Law.[1]

Each agency or department of the Village of Sagaponack shall comply with the provisions of Article 6 of the Public Officers Law, entitled the "Freedom of Information Law," and the regulations adopted by the Committee on Open Government and codified at 21 NYCRR Part 1401.
The Village Clerk is hereby designated the records access officer.
The Village Treasurer is hereby designated as the fiscal officer.
Records of all agencies and departments of the Village shall be available for public inspection and copying at the Village Offices, 3175 Montauk Highway, Sagaponack, New York.
The Mayor is hereby designated as the person to hear appeals for denial of access to records under the Freedom of Information Law.
Fees for copies of records shall be the maximum amounts permitted.
The Village Clerk shall post on the Village Clerk's bulletin board a notice containing the information required under 21 NYCRR 1401.9.
Should any part or provision of this article be decided by the courts to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the article as a whole nor any part thereof other than the part so decided to be unconstitutional or invalid.
