A Zoning Administrator shall be appointed for a term of one
(1) year commencing the first Monday of February of each year by the
Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen. The Zoning Enforcement
Officer shall be the City Building Inspector or Zoning Administrator.

A. The Zoning Administrator, or his/her duly designated and acting deputy,
shall enforce these regulations and in addition thereto and in furtherance
of said authority, he/she shall:

Approve and issue all zoning and occupancy certificates and
make and maintain records thereof.
2.
Conduct inspections of buildings, structures and uses of land
to determine compliance with the provisions of this Chapter.
3.
Receive, file, and forward to the Board of Adjustment the records
in all appeals and all other applications.
4.
Maintain permanent and current records of this Chapter, including,
but not limited to, all zoning maps, amendments, conditional uses,
special uses, variances, appeals and applications therefor and records
of hearings thereon.
5.
Prepare and have available in book, pamphlet or map form on
or before January 31 of each year:
a.
The compiled text of this Chapter and amendments thereto, including
all amendments adopted through the preceding December 31, and
b.
The official Zoning Map or maps, showing the zoning districts,
divisions and classifications in effect on the preceding December
31.
6.
Maintain for distribution to the public a supply of copies of
the Zoning Map or maps, the compiled test of the Zoning Ordinance,
Comprehensive Plan, Development Regulations, and the rules of the
Board of Aldermen.
7.
Provide such clerical, technical and consultative assistance
as may be required by the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of
Adjustment and other boards, commissions and officials in the exercise
of their duties relating to this Chapter.
8.
Attend all meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission and
the Board of Adjustments.

A. The Zoning Enforcement Officer shall be the Zoning Administrator
or a designated representative.
B. He/she shall serve with compensation as authorized by the Mayor and
Board of Aldermen.
C. Duties of the Zoning Enforcement Officer shall be:

Issue certificates of occupancy.
3.
Check to see if the work is carried out according to the permit.
4.
Administer the provisions of the Chapter dealing with non-conforming
uses.
5.
Make periodic checks for zoning violations.
6.
Initiate court action for violation of this Chapter.
8.
Attend all meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
9.
Attend all meetings of the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
D. In general, the Zoning Enforcement Officer is charged with the literal
enforcement of this Chapter. He/she cannot modify any provision of
this Chapter for individual cases.
