As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
CHIEF OFFICERS
Fire Chief, Assistant Chiefs, Chaplains (honorary) and any officers while serving in any of the foregoing ranks.
COMMANDING OFFICERS
Chief officers and Captains who are charged with the administrative duties and responsibilities in their respective units; and in companies where no Captains are assigned, the Senior Lieutenant charged with such duties as provided unless otherwise ordered.
COMPANY COMMANDERS
Captains, and in companies where no Captains are assigned, the Senior Lieutenant charged with administrative duties as provided, unless otherwise ordered.
DIRECTIVE
Information issued by the Fire Chief to the entire personnel of the Department or to any group thereof.
DISPATCHER
The dispatcher on duty in Clinton County Fire Control Center.
DUTY CHIEFS
Assistant Chief or other officer designated to be in charge in the Chief's absence.
INTERDEPARTMENT COMMUNICATIONS
Printed orders which require the attention of units of the Department.
MUTUAL AID
Organized, supervised, coordinated reciprocal assistance of all participating Fire Departments throughout the County of Clinton and adjacent areas.
OFFICIAL CHANNELS
The forwarding or transmitting of official communications through intermediate officers in ascending or descending order of rank.
OFFICIAL COMMUNICATIONS
Interchange of official correspondence or messages.
OFFICIAL ORDERS
Printed orders which require the attention of units of the Department.
QUARTERS
Any fire station or Department building wherein fire apparatus is housed and members are assigned or detailed for duty.
SENIOR OFFICER IN RANK
An officer of any rank who has served permanently the longest period of time in that rank.
SPECIAL UNITS
Any special piece of apparatus designed to perform specific duties.
SUBORDINATE
A member who stands lower in rank than another.
TOUR OF DUTY
A twenty-four-hour shift commencing at 7:00 a.m. for officers and 8:00 a.m. for firefighters.
