The office of Assistant Secretary is hereby created and established, subject to the right of the Borough at any time to abolish said office by ordinance or resolution.

Council shall elect by vote of a majority of the members one person to fill the office of Assistant Borough Secretary, who shall serve until the first Monday of January of the even-numbered year succeeding their election and until their successor is elected and qualified. Thereafter the office shall be filled biennially. In the case of a vacancy; Council shall, by a vote of a majority of members, fill said office for the unexpired term. Council may at any time remove the Assistant Secretary from office by a vote of a majority of members.
Said person elected to office shall be vested with all of the duties, powers and authority of the Secretary as provided by law, when the Secretary is absent from the Borough or unable to serve for more than two weeks.

The salary of the Assistant Secretary shall be as provided for by Council in the Salary Ordinance.[1]

Before entering upon the duties of said office, the Assistant Secretary shall give a bond to the Borough with a trust company or bonding company as surety, to be approved by the Council, and at the expense of the Borough, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of the office.
